So much great wine coming out of California right now. Don't be afraid to try something new. We all get in the habit of drinking the same wines all the time, its easy to do. Try breaking out of the routine and experiment a little. Great Zinfandel from Lodi, in fact Lodi is producing the best Zin in the country right now! Santa Barbara County is giving us fabulous Pinot Noirs and Syrahs. It's getting easier to find Malbec in Napa to go with the great Cabernets they already produce. Sonoma makes great Chardonay and some Pinot Noir. I have shied away from Temecula but just recently starting to hear more positive news coming out of the region. Of course Paso Robles is still booming with Cabernet too!
How about this one, a startup in Los Angeles County making some big red blends? Sound interesting? Their first release is coming this year! More on this hidden gem when we have a bottle in hand.
My point is simple, drink what you like, but now and then try a new one. Give yourself a nice change. Its the best way to learn about new California wines!
